About DiscoJackers

DiscoJackers is a North West–based DJ and events brand built on decades of real-world experience, long before playlists and USB sticks were a thing.

The story

The story begins in the early 1980s with the AC Roadshow, driven and established by Chris Knagg. At a time when mobile discos meant serious logistics, heavy kit and proper showmanship, AC Roadshow became known for delivering professional, high-impact events across the region. That foundation of doing things properly — technically, musically and operationally — still underpins DiscoJackers today.

As the years went on, Simon Knagg joined the operation during his teenage years, learning the craft hands-on: music programming, crowd control, setup discipline and the realities of live events. That experience wasn’t theoretical — it was earned in venues, marquees and community halls, watching what worked and what absolutely didn’t.

When AC Roadshow eventually retired in the late 2000s, it didn’t disappear — it evolved. DiscoJackers was born, carrying forward the experience and standards of its predecessor, but with a modern edge and a clear focus on high-energy, crowd-driven events. In its early years, DiscoJackers was co-led alongside James Rickard, who played a key role in shaping the brand before going on to establish LandPower TV, where he now focuses full-time.

While Chris no longer performs as part of the DiscoJackers DJ setup, he remains a silent and vested partner in the business — offering experience, guidance and support behind the scenes, and occasionally joining larger events where scale and complexity demand it.

Today, DiscoJackers is led by Simon, joined on every gig by his wife Rachel Knagg. Rachel has trained extensively behind the decks and is now a confident DJ in her own right, regularly found on the “wheels of steel” and playing an active role in delivering events. Together, they operate as a tight, two-person unit — reading the room, managing the flow of the night and keeping the energy exactly where it needs to be.

From Young Farmers events to weddings, private parties and large-scale celebrations, DiscoJackers brings the same promise every time: professional-grade sound and lighting, experience you can’t fake, and nights that feel effortless for clients and unforgettable for everyone else.

No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just proper events, built on decades of doing it right.
